May 31, 2025: Saturday Remix
Teachers and Staff: Happy Saturday!
Musical Ladder Has Begun!
Please continue to deliver wristbands and certificates to your students this week! Please let us know as soon as possible if you are missing anything, or are unsure about any student.
Reminder – What You Need To Do:
1. Find your collection of wristbands and certificates for your students. Your name will be on the cover sheet and the brown bag. These will be in the lesson room of your first lesson starting today.
2. Deliver the wristband and certificate to your students. Keep the remainder with you so you can deliver to your other students on the other days you teach. Try to deliver all wristbands and certificates this week!
Additional Information
Each level on the musical ladder represents a duration of time that a student has been taking lessons with us. Students who have not been 3 months yet will not receive anything, until their first 3 months. Every other student should receive something.
Attached is a document which shows the duration that corresponds to each level. For example, Apprentice = 3 months, Songbird = 6 months, Rock Star = 12 months, etc. You can communicate this with your students. This document will also be placed in the Teacher Resources folder on Google drive, and in the printed Teacher Resources binders in each lesson room.
We will continue to communicate more information about how students receive their next level certificate and wristband. Some levels also receive trophies. The next level for each student includes factors of both longevity (time elapsed) and learning / achievement of goals.
For now, the most important thing is that you give the wristbands and certificates to your students, CONGRATULATE THEM, and HAVE FUN!
Please let me know if you see anything that appears incorrect or missing, etc.
Studio Recitals July 2 & 3, 2025
Every teacher should encourage their students to participate in as many recitals as possible. Students should always be developing their repertoire of music that they can perform anytime, anywhere, for anyone. These are the pieces to help them select for their recital performances! Students can and should perform the same music more than once, at more than one recital.
Our upcoming studio Summer recitals are July 2 & 3, 2025, at the Norman P. Murray Community Center in Mission Viejo. Please work with your students on their performance practices, including dress, bowing and acknowledging the audience, handling a microphone, announcing their music (especially vocal students), if desired.
Putting Things Back, Finding Their Home
Please remember to always put things back where you found them! If you take something from location A, please put it back in location A when you are finished with it. Please do not leave it in location B, or return it to location C, unless that is really where it belongs! If you know where something should go, return it to its home!
Speaking to Students, Parents, & Families about Scheduling
Please remember that it is our studio policy that teachers do not speak with students, parents, or families about scheduling. Scheduling includes everything from ongoing lessons to make-up lessons to teacher absences, planned or otherwise. All scheduling goes through the office. (There may be very specific exceptions, for very specific reasons, and these exceptions are worked out very specifically with the people involved. They are rare and should never be assumed.)
Thank you for strictly adhering to our school policies and procedures.

Q. Does the scheduling policy mean I cannot tell students that I will be going on vacation?
A. Yes, the policy specifically requires teachers to NOT tell their students when they are going on vacation, or are going to miss any future lesson, or today's lesson, for any reason. If you as a teacher feel there is a need for you to discuss a future absence with a student, parent, or family, please contact me and let me know, and I will discuss with you.
Please remember that we are a TEAM of teachers. Students enroll in lessons at the school, and are served by the Teacher Team. They have a primary teacher, which can change from time to time, or remain constant for a longer period of time. Either way, they are being served by the Teacher Team, and will have guest teachers from time to time, for a variety of reasons, including student absences resulting in make-up lessons, and teacher absences resulting in guest (substitute) teacher lessons.

Thank you, everyone, for all that you do!
Have a magical Saturday, a musical weekend, and a safe and healthy coming week.
